"Vancouver Film School (VFS) is the world’s premiere entertainment arts education institute, preparing talented artists, designers, and creatives of all disciplines with the skills and experience they need to flourish in the creative industry.

Located in British Columbia on Canada’s west coast, Vancouver is one of the world’s most beautiful and liveable cities. The city is not just known for its sprawling forests, mountains, and sparkling ocean, however. Dubbed “Hollywood North,” Vancouver is busy year-round as a filming location for TV and film, and is home to dozens of animation and game studios, including Disney, Sony, and Microsoft. This situates VFS right in the creative heart of Canada, offering our students a doorway into the industry.

VFS offers twelve advanced production programs, including Film Production, 3D Animation & Visual Effects, Acting, Game Design, Digital Design, and much more. These accelerated courses of study are designed to teach you everything you need to enter the entertainment industry in just one year. Our students graduate industry-ready, equipped with a professional portfolio, and with more hands-on, practical knowledge of their fields than many graduates of 4-year degree programs.

How does VFS achieve this? It begins with our commitment to providing students with an experienced faculty of instructors and mentors who are actively working in the industry. These teachers bring the latest practices and standards with them, ensuring that students graduate ready for today’s creative industry.

Our students are further prepared to step seamlessly into their career through using industry-standard equipment, software, and studio spaces throughout their studies. Students also benefit from our network of industry partnerships. Embedded studios such as Beyond Capture, one of North America’s largest performance capture spaces, give students the opportunity to learn in real working studio environments.

Our alumni use this experience to create some of the most successful and critically acclaimed productions. At the 2023 Oscars, 82 VFS graduates were credited on award-winning films including Avatar: The Way of Water, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This year’s biggest movies, such as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Barbie, and Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3, have all benefited from the work of talented VFS alumni, as have TV shows like The Last of Us and The Mandalorian, and video games like Diablo IV, Resident Evil 4, and Baldur’s Gate III.

VFS students don’t just graduate with a diploma. They graduate into an alumni network from around the world creating some of the absolute best entertainment projects. Over 45% of VFS’s student body is international, coming from over 70 countries.
